Following the felling of trees in March 2008 the Residents’ Association was formed and our first Public Meeting was held in the local Sportsman’s Arms where up to 100 local residents turned out. • We have engaged our local councillors who have given us a great deal of support and encouragement, • We have contacted the local Police Wildlife Team, who have told the developers to stop any further tree felling due to nesting birds in the remaining trees. The original tree felling was in contravention of the Countryside and Wildlife Act 1981, which forbids the felling of trees where nesting birds are in residence.

The association needs your help. We are a group of residents working hard to fight powerful and wealthy developers. They have access to legal representation and experience in driving planning applications through Council procedures. We need assistance from people with experience of successfully fighting planning applications; we need donations to our fighting fund to allow us to engage our own legal representation; we need people with information about the Green and its previous ownership; we need evidence of how the Green and its Right of Way has been used by the public in the past. Photographs and maps showing the path are particularly useful. |
